About Hand and Wrist Specialists

Hand and wrist specialists are highly skilled in diagnosing and treating a multitude of hand conditions.  Healthpointe’s specialists receive board certified training in order to ensure that they understand the delicate relationship between the bones, joints, ligaments, nerves, and muscles of the hand. Common hand and wrist conditions include carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, trigger finger, hand fractures, and more.

Education

Hand surgeons begin their career by completing medical school and then attending a residency program for clinical training. Possible residencies include Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and General Surgery.  Each program generally last between 5 and 7 years.

Following the residency a fellowship program in hand surgery which provides an additional year of training and firsthand experience in the diagnosis and treatment of hand conditions.
