Shoes for Foot Pain
Most of us only pay attention to arch support when choosing a new workout or running shoe – and almost no attention to our work or ‘errands’ shoes. Which is crazy, because only a fraction of our time is spent working out. Take a look at the shoes you wear during the day. Are the insoles flat? Are your feet usually sore after wearing them? Did you buy them only because they were cheap?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need new shoes. The following is our list of best shoes to wear during the day, if you experience foot pain. Talk to your doctor for more information, and to see if they are right for you.
- New Balance MW928. This men’s shoe has a thick rubber sole for support and built-in cushioning specifically for the middle of the foot. We recommend wearing it for outdoor walking. Available on Amazon.
- Women’s Orthaheel. Designed specifically for female plantar fasciitis patients, this shoe comes with a heel cup and removable orthotics. Plus, comes in pink! Available at Sears.
- Bionica Footwear. Not only does this line design shoes specifically for those with foot problems, but they also have a broad range of choices – so you can wear them to work, parties, or running errands. Available at bionicafootwear.com.
If your doctor has given you a diagnosis of plantar fasciitis, bunions, or tendinitis, then you are probably well acquainted with foot pain. If you’ve tried medications and physical therapy, but still can’t seem to kick foot pain to the curb, then you may be overlooking a major roadblock in your pathway to recovery: your daily walking shoe.
